Uganda is located on the east coast of Africa. Ugandans are just like you and I. They have families, they have religious beliefs, they have organized government, and a deep history. Unfortunately, Ugandans - who are a peace loving people, have had a violent past. Today they live in a relatively secure political government that allows for them to live freely, educate themselves, start their own businesses and control their own destinies.
Just like you and your family, Ugandans want just a little more out of life. But, like most of us, they have very few resources to call on them to overcome things you or I may never see in our lifetimes.
We are not exposed daily to life-threatening diseases like malaria that routinely kill family members. Ugandas do.
We have structurally sound affordable housing available here. Most Ugandans don't.
We have clean running water here to drink and wash. Ugandans don't.
These are basic needs of all human beings.
Tower of Hope International Ministries has recognized that Ugandans need help. Hope needs to be restored! We have recognized that there are many people there who have a deisre to have jobs and make a better future for themselves and their families. They lack the knowledge and resoiurces to get started. There are so many orphans there in great need of the nurturing of a family setting and the oportunity for education. We can do something.
Tower of Hope's mission is to provide guardianship with love, compassion, and welfare to the orphaned and disadvataged children of Uganda. The vision was born out of the life experiences of the organizations president and founder, Michael Kiyaga who himself was born and raised in Uganda. He witnessed first hand the mark left by a cruel dicatatorship leaving many of the educated people, people who were parents, dead. With the unending cicl war starting in1979, worsened by the AIDS epidemic many children were left with no parents or relatives able to care for them at all, and in desperate need of guardianship. After hs secondary education in Uganda, Micheal worked as a volunteer in a chilrens home for more than 5 years. This experience built in him a love and compassion for disadvantaged children and gave birth to Tower of Hope.
The needs are simple. The cost is comparatively little. Tower of Hope is succeeding in our own way to provide assistance and basic necessities so that these children can grow into healthy, self-respecting, educated and independent people. We are hoping that you will come along side us to help in any way you that can.
