Poverty is common in many African countries and millions of children are at risk of hunger, HIV, AIDS, malnutrition, malaria and preventable disease and poor education. Compassion's Africa child development centers serve more than 317,400 children in eight countries—Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Togo and Uganda. Our Educational Needs fund provides the resources for children to go beyond their primary education. Resources such as: textbooks and curriculum, supplies and fees for tests and labs, playgrounds, libraries, and computer labs, post-secondary classes, vocational training, and literacy and financial training for adult caregivers. HOW WE HELP TO EDUCATE These Funds help children stay in school and learn valuable skills that enable them to be contributing adults in their communities one day. They may receive textbooks, uniforms and fees for labs. They may also receive tutoring with their homework, and spiritual and emotional support when things get tough.
